Karakusa Hotel Tokyo Station
Stayed with Little Kids - Review
Hello. I am the mother of a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old child. In August 2022, my mother-in-law, husband, myself, and our two daughters stayed at the Karakusa Hotel Tokyo Station.
If you are considering staying with a group of 5 or more people, this hotel is recommended because there are lots of connecting rooms. (Of course, it is also recommended for couple trips.) The hotel is located within a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Station, so everything is conveniently accessible, whether you want to take the express train or the airport bus.

Our travel review of Karakusa hotel with 4 and 1 year old Kids
Access
I arrived at Tokyo Station from north Kanto area by train, so we walked to hotel. (It's very nearby!)
Our room
The connecting room we stayed in was created by combining two twin rooms. Although they have the same size, the layout was slightly different.
Room-1
The layout of the first room is like this. There are twin beds in the middle, a sink and a bath in the back, and you can move the door to close it. In the foreground, there is a coffee table and a sofa, although it is not shown in the picture.
Room-2
Here is the layout of the second room. There is a desk at the back, twin beds in the middle, and a washroom in the front, but it is the type without a door.
We had an open connecting room during the day where we could freely come and go. At night, we would close the door and ask my stepmother to put our two children to bed in room-1. Then my husband and I would go out for a drink, and return to the room-2 where no one was sleeping... That was our life. I am grateful to my stepmother.
There are various of rooms and connection so you can choose perfect room for your group.
A Japanese-style room that is perfect for families with babies.
A Japanese-style room where up to six people can stay. This room has a separate bathroom and toilet.
Washbasin and bathtub
It is a relatively new hotel, so the bathroom area are very clean.
Some rooms seem to have a bathtub and shower area as well, depending on the room.
Facilities in the building
There is a free drink bar!
As soon as you enter the building, you will find an eat-in space. In the morning, it serves as a cafe that offers breakfast. However, between 11:00 and 24:00, it is very convenient to be able to have coffee, juice, or tea from the drink bar at the back anytime.
Convenient laundry services
Two washing machines with dryers are installed in the hotel. The fee is 500 yen for 3kg and can be paid in cash or through IC card payment.
The availability can be checked from the room's TV. After it is finished, the hotel staff will take out the contents and keep it at the front desk for the next person who is waiting, about 5 to 10 minutes have passed.
My family has also used it about twice.
Nursing room
In a quiet space, you can calmly breastfeed, making this nursing room reassuring for large groups of travelers. Not only can you use it for nursing and changing diapers, but they also provide rental baby supplies.
I can see a nursing cushion and STOKKE's baby bath in front of me. When my child couldn't sit alone, I used to bring the baby bath to the hotel, so it was really helpful to be able to borrow it like this.
The stroller I brought with me on the trip with my 0-year-old baby was convenient even when going out because it had an air pump.
Amenity complimentarily
Pajamas (separate top and bottom), slippers available. There is an electric kettle, cup, and refrigerator in the room.
Meals at hotel
Breakfast is enjoyable when you receive a ticket that can be used at the department store.
The hotel only provides breakfast.
It seems that they will deliver a set of drinks and bread to your room.
However, the breakfast voucher worth 500 yen can be used at nearby restaurants and department stores. This includes Daimaru Tokyo, so I enjoyed exploring delicious bakeries like Paul. (My husband bought delicious onigiri, etc.) It was also fun to look around and see what you can buy for around 500 yen.
How we spent time in this hotel with babies
After check-in, you can unpack while enjoying the soft drinks and coffee you received at the drink bar, and let your children play for a while.
We could watch Youtube, Nexflix etc by TV in the room, it was really helpful for kids to spend time.
We wander around Yaesu Underground Shopping Mall and Daimaru Tokyo to buy breakfast the next morning.
I went to a nearby restaurant to have dinner early in the evening.
I made a reservation in advance because it was said to be a popular restaurant. The restaurant was relatively compact and mostly occupied by people who had finished work, so I briefly wondered if it would be tough for those with children. However, both the staff and the people around us were very kind, and I was able to enjoy yakiniku (grilled meat) for the first time in a long while.
We bathed the children and entrusted putting them to sleep to my mother-in-law, then the two parents went out for a drink. We didn't know what was in Yaezu at night, but there were nice bars, casual Irish pubs, and karaoke places.
My second daughter, who is an early riser, was having breakfast with her grandmother, who she has become close with.
The checkout day, I had to catch an early morning bus to Narita, but it was very convenient because the bus stop was within a 5-minute walk.
Hotel Reviews from Review site
I used it for an overnight stay before an early morning Shinkansen trip. At check-in, I asked about the pickup time for breakfast and received a voucher. I wandered around the underground shopping area and department stores at Tokyo Station and ended up buying some things at a convenience store, but the voucher covered it well. The room was brightly lit, quiet, and both the room and bed were reasonably spacious. The shower was adequate and clean, with a sense of cleanliness (come to think of it, there was even a set under the bed in case of an earthquake). The previous night, I enjoyed drinking and eating at many casual restaurants in the area, and when I returned to my room, I picked up a drink from the corner on the 1st floor. It was so close to the Shinkansen platform in the morning! In terms of purpose, it may be more advantageous than expected.
一休
This was my third stay. I have never stayed at the same hotel three times a year before, but because it is a convenient and wonderful hotel, I made a reservation without hesitation. Since I have children, we were able to spend comfortably in a Japanese-style room with a separate bath and toilet. It is conveniently located near Tokyo Station with excellent access. Since it is a new hotel, it is clean and beautiful. I would like to continue using it when I go to Tokyo in the future.

I recommend Japanese style room with 0-2 baby.
